2011 Tailgate Program

On October 16, over 400 people came to Everbank Field to attend the Southern Oak Insurance Company Tailgate:  Kick-off to a Cure, benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Nearly $60,000 was raised to continue research to find treatments and a cure for cystic fibrosis.  Dreambuilder Custom Homes was proud to be a River City Bistro sponsor for the event, continuing its run of support.

The event, now in its 12th year, is held annually and has raised over $650,000 in total.  Catered by two dozen of Jacksonville’s finest restaurants, attendees wined and dined while watching the Jaguars battle the Steelers in the Terrace Suite overlooking the field.

Supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is important to the Dreambuilder family:  president Shawn Starr’s 11-year-old niece, Courtney, suffers from the disease, along with about 30,000 others in the United States, most of whom are children.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that causes the body to produce thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, the most dangerous of several symptoms.  Due to the support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, advances in treatment have increased the life expectancy from early childhood in the 1950s to the mid-30s today.  More research is needed, however, to reach the ultimate goal:  a cure.

Dreambuilder Custom Homes begins YouTube video series

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Dreambuilder Custom Homes has begun a video series on the construction process.  The videos will be available on the Dreambuilder website as well as YouTube.

“The purpose of this series is to give viewers an overview of the construction process, so that they have an idea of what to expect,” said Dreambuilder President Shawn Starr.  “It educates them on the steps we take in building the home, and provides some of the things we do at Dreambuilder to bring better construction techniques, quality and value into our client’s custom home.”

The first video, titled “Foundation”, provides information on the different types of foundations that are available and how they are built.  Future videos will cover everything from framing to engineering to roofing and beyond.

“We’re excited to bring this series to the public,” said Starr.  “We haven’t seen anything out there that gives a decent amount of information without glossing over and over-simplfying or, on the other hand, overwhelming with too much information.”

You can view the new video in the Dream Home Gallery (click on “Videos”) or on Dreambuilder’s new YouTube channel.  On YouTube, you can subscribe to Dreambuilder’s channel and receive a notification whenever a new video is added.

Enjoy!

Dreambuilder Custom Homes is pleased to announce that Dreambuilder Eleven has sold, and in just three days after being listed.

“The speed of this offer is a testimony not only to the attraction of living in the The Sanctuary but also to the unique homes that we’ve built here,” said Shawn Starr, Dreambuilder president.  “Additionally, we had so much interest in Dreambuilder Eleven that the buyers, in order to not lose the home, made a full-price offer, which naturally we are very happy about.”

Dreambuilder Ten, at 2617 SF Key West-style home, is still for sale, listed at $399,900.  With four or five bedrooms, a separate study, upstairs loft and lake front views, this home would be a great fit for any family.  See MLS# 595118 and visit our Dream Home Gallery for more information.  You can also contact Realtor Sherri Beno of Keller-Williams Altantic Partners to arrange a showing at (904) 651-1830.

Dreambuilder Thirteen clients still love their new kitchen!

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

Part of the service that makes Dreambuilder Custom Homes special is its approach to warranty — the ‘service after the sale.’  All of our work on remodeling/renovation projects is warranted for a year.  Additionally, we proactively contact our clients throughout that year to make sure all is well — and if not, we arrange the necessary work to be handled quickly.

It had been about three months since we completed Dreambuilder Thirteen, a large kitchen renovation for the McDonald family, so we contacted them to see how things were going and to make sure there were no issues.  Vivian McDonald responded with this message:  “It’s so funny you reached out. I was just thinking that I needed to email you and let you know how much we LOVE our kitchen! I am a cooking fiend – trying new recipes every weekend. We still can’t think of anything we’d change.”  In addition to this wonderful endorsement, there were no warranty issues with the work.

Dreambuilder’s goal is for all of our clients to be as happy as the McDonalds even after the initial excitement of the completed project has passed.  Our initial job quality and the follow-up after the sale are characteristics you can count on when we collaborate with you on your remodeling or renovation project.  Contact us today to get started!
